The Eighth HORNET (CV-12) carries a distinguished name in US Naval History. Her namesake dates back to one of the two first ships in the continental Navy.   The USS HORNET is credited with an impressive list of achievements that include nine battle stars earned for her WWII service, survival of 59 attacks without ever being hit, and support of nearly every Pacific amphibious landing after March 1944.  Additionally, the Hornet  recovered both Apollo 11 and Apollo 12 astronauts. Onboard exhibits include a TBM Avenger, an F14 Tomcat, and display of Apollo artifacts. The tour includes a short film introduction followed by visits to more than four of the ship’s decks.
